Westborough Unplugs 2024

Our 5th annual local celebration of National Screen-Free Week will feature several “unplugged” local activities, recommendations and opportunities to connect with community, inviting people to disconnect to reconnect.

The goal of this initiative is to encourage people to consider our relationships with screens, the impact it may have with our connection to others, and how we to balance use in our everyday lives.

Square One presents this free community program for all ages- from children through senior adults. Through a wellness expo, hands-on activities, and opportunities to learn about health benefiting tools, we will connect attendees to resources which support mental and behavioral health, showcase various ways to positively impact well-being, and decrease the stigma surrounding mental health.

Understanding Disordered Eating: What Parents/Caregivers Need to Know (Virtual)

FREE virtual panel presentation for parents/caregivers of children and teens and community members

This program will focus on recognizing warning signs of eating disorder behaviors in our children and teens as well as how to approach accessing help for those in need. Practitioners will also offer prevention strategies and educate participants about how to address concern for loved ones who may be struggling with an eating disorder. All are welcome for this collaborative presentation.

About our Panelists:

  • Rachel Fortune, MD from Walden Center for Recovery Inpatient Services

  • Liz Booma, MD from Newton Wellesley Hospital

  • Jacqueline MacDougall, LMHC from Walden Center for Recovery Inpatient Services

  • and more voices from the field of disordered eating

This program is presented by SPARK Kindness and Square One. Square One is a collaborative partnership between Westborough Public Schools, Westborough Youth and Family Services, the Rotary Club of Westborough, Westborough Public Library and Westborough Connects.

Let's Talk About It: Youth Mental Health (in-person)

Join other Westborough parents and caregivers of adolescents to talk about how to support our children’s emotional and mental wellbeing.

These small group conversation circles will focus on destigmatizing conversation about mental health, recognizing mental health distress in our youth, learning about what resources exist in the school system and the local community, and knowing when to go for help.

Cara Presley from Westborough Youth and Family Services will be present along with a parent from the community to contribute to the conversation and to share resources.

The conversation circles will consist of 8-10 parents/caregivers

To participate in the March 10th in-person session, register HERE

This program is a Square One Collaboration, co-hosted by Westborough Youth & Family Services, Westborough Public Schools, Rotary Club of Westborough, Westborough Public Library, and Westborough Connects.
